This week I got to participate in the kickoff of I Want to Walk the Talk (called the schmooze fest!), at OBrien's Restaurant on Wells Street in Old Town.  I Want to Walk the Talk is a program that helps people meet their health goals AND raises money for a deserving organization (at the same time).

Started by Bria Day, I Want to Walk the Talk is a 10 week program aimed at getting folks who work downtown to make a commitment to their health (and be able to follow through on that commitment) by participating in different exercise classes, seminars on nutrition, cooking classes, art classes and other fun outings (corn maze!).  She sets it all up, all you have to do is pay a pretty small fee ($60 for the 10 weeks, which you really can't beat) and then show up.  Plus, all the proceeds go to the National MS Society and After School Matters.

If you want to learn more specifics about the program, its costs and how to participate, click here:

Participating in this group is not only good for you, it is fun.  And it was fun to meet those folks participating as teachers or instructors at the schmooze fest - as well as some of the participants.

Watching people get better using Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine is really exciting.  Doing this work has taught me more about my body, about how to get and stay healthy, and the process of healing.

Another important aspect of Chinese medicine is the effect of the weather and location on health.  As Chicago gets colder and damper, our bodies respond, sometimes by experiencing increased pain, congestion, lethargy, or even the flu.  Regular acupuncture treatment greatly alleviates these conditions.

On this blog I hope to provide tips and information on various aspects of acupuncture, how to live seasonally for improved health, and what types of foods you can include in your diet to feel better faster.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

I'll also be posting links to my monthly newsletter. If you'd like to receive your own copy, please send me your address and I'll add you to my mailing list.
