Emotional health acupunctureLiving in the modern world is a stressful experience. Long term stress may result in depression, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, headaches, digestive disorders and physical pain. Acupuncture is effective at relieving stress because it brings the body into the parasympathetic state – the “rest and digest” mode, rather than the stressed out sympathetic state – also known as “fight or flight.” Once in the parasympathetic state the body can relax and healing can take place.

Emotional health is key to physical well being. Traditional Chinese Medicine, as a mind-body medicine, holds that emotions can and do lead to physical aliments when left untreated. Acupuncture treatment is an appropriate and useful additional to traditional psychotherapy.
