Chicago Acupuncturist Monique Wheeler Practitioners

Monique Wheeler is a fully licensed Acupuncturist by the State of Illinois (L.Ac.) and is a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (Dipl. OM) as certified by the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She holds a Master’s Degree of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, Chicago. Pacific College’s Master’s degree program is an in-depth, rigorous study of Acupuncture, Oriental Medicine theory, Chinese herbalism and biomedicine that lasts approximately four years.

Prior to becoming an acupuncturist, Monique studied geography at Louisiana State University, earning a B.A. and M.A. in the subject. She subsequently worked as a city planner for ten years before studying acupuncture. She decided to pursue acupuncture as a career after experiencing significant health benefits through treatment. Her personal experience of better health through acupuncture solidified a desire to help others experience emotional and physical well being. She is committed to helping her patients on their path to better health and to providing the best care possible.

What Does Meridian 87 Mean?

The word meridian is defined as "a line of longitude which describes an imaginary arc along the Earth's surface running from North to South pole." It is also an energetic pathway along the body where acupuncture points are found.

Meridian 87 is shorthand for Chicago's physical longitudinal location on the earth, which is 87 degrees and 54 minutes (as measured at O'Hare airport). By combining these two definitions, we became Meridian 87 - where Chinese medicine and Chicago meet.
